Lloyd Jackson

Lloyd L. Jackson, of Sierra Vista, passed away at home on March 5, 2014. Lloyd was born October 31, 1923 in Bottineau, ND. Lloyd entered the Army in March, 1943 at Fort Leonard Wood where he attended basic training with the 75th Infantry Division. Following basic training he saw action in European Theater. In 1947 his unit was transferred to Japan as an occupation force. By then Lloyd had risen to the rank of first sergeant. In 1946, Lloyd received a direct commission to second lieutenant. In 1948, Lloyd married the love of his life, Mary. They spent the next 22 years on active duty, traveling and raising 9 children before retiring in Tucson, AZ. In 1984 Lloyd and Mary moved to Safford where he worked as the hospital administrator for Mount Graham Community Hospital. He moved to Sierra Vista in 2011 after the death of his wife, Mary. Lloyd was active in many organizations including the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Lloyd is survived by his children, Denise (James) Burke, Gail (Billy) Fowler, Diane (Joseph) Allocco, Brian (Charlene) Jackson, Timothy (Mildred) Jackson, Elise (Michael) Reimer, Kevin Jackson, and Shaun Piccolo, 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his daughter Teresa, his parents, his brother and his sister. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Casa de Ia Paz Hospice, 185 S. Moorman Avenue, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635. We love you Daddy. A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Sierra Vista, Arizona followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Father Ariel as celebrant. Interment will take place on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Southern Arizona Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista.
