Lola Arbon Buchi 1923 - 2007 Lola A. Buchi, 84, slipped quietly from the cares of this mortal life November 18, 2007, in Tremonton, Utah, returning to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and other loved ones waiting to welcome her home and to begin her new journey. She departs with our love and fond memories of the good person she was as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mom was born November 14, 1923, along with her twin sister Nola, in Brigham City, Utah, to Leonard May and Rhoda Lee Arbon, joining an older brother, and followed by two more sisters and a younger brother. Lola married Douglas O. Nelson in December, 1942, spending the next eight months with him before he embarked overseas with the Army Air Corps during WWII. The troop ship he was on was sunk by a German torpedo plane on November 26, 1943, in the Mediterranean Sea and was reported missing in action until May 16, 1944, when it was confirmed that he had died in action, just one month after the birth of their son, Douglas O. Nelson, Jr. (Douglas O. Buchi). Lola married Gordon E. Buchi in the Salt Lake Temple in 1948 and five children were born to this union: James Arbon (preceded his mother in death). Surviving children are: Douglas O. (Sherri) Riverton, Kenneth N. (Karen), Salt Lake City, Paul G. (Cynthia), Tremonton, Heidi A., Salt Lake City, and Duane (Lynne), Oklahoma. Gordon and Lola were later divorced. Lola married James Powell, loved and cared for his children, Ruth and Doug Powell. They were later divorced. Lola was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she remained faithful to the end. She rendered countless service and included her time as a full-time missionary in Florida and a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple, along with her family, as the highlights of her life. Lola is survived by two brothers: Norman Arbon (Betty), Colorado, Lee Arbon (Peggy), Texas; one sister, Ida (Arch), Salt Lake City; in addition to having 16 grandchildren and 19 great grand children. Mom, we know there is a wonderful reunion taking place with family members who have preceded you in death, including your first husband Doug, sisters Nola and June, son Jim, grandson Bobby, and many, many others. We will miss you until we meet again. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 26, 2007, 12:00 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be, 10:30-11:45 am prior to services. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South, Salt Lake City. The family wishes to express appreciation to all who had a part in her care, especially the special and loving care she received from Bear River Care Center.
