Longino Abeyta

Longino Serna Abeyta, 88, of Safford, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 in Safford. He was born on November 8, 1922 to Jesus and Damaris Abeyta, in San Jose, AZ. At the age of 15 he moved to California with his family. There he met and married Antonia Galvan. They were blessed with one child, Gloria, who passed away in September of this year. Longino served in the Army during World War II. His four brothers; Simon, Ben, Joe and Jerry also served in the military. He is preceded in death by his daughter Gloria. Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2011 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Safford, with Rev. Father Edward Lucero as celebrant. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church with rosary being recited at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery.
