Lonnie Gable

Lonnie Ivan Gable, 90, of Safford, entered into rest on April 12, 2015 at Arbor Assisted Living. Lonnie was born on June 16, 1924 in Roscoe, Texas to Willie and Lelah Gable. Lonnie was the second born of nine children. Lonnie was raised in different parts of Texas, Arizona and California due to the family being migrant farm workers. Lonnie spent a majority of his life cooking in restaurants such as the Gaslight, Pioneer, Jerry's and the Recreation Hall. He was also known for his produce stands on the side of the road. Lonnie is survived by his children; Lois (Bob) McQuillan, Myra Luv, Denise (Calvin) Higgins, Glen Gable and Yolanda (Larry) Lee, sister Dee Johns, brother R.L. Gable and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Willie and Lelah Gable, true love Maydell, brothers Doc, Bennie and Bill and sisters Odena, Dorise and Fay. Services for Lonnie will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Caldwell Funeral Chapel with the viewing beginning at 1:00 p.m. and the funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment is in the Safford Cemetery.
