Lorin P. Childs Gone Too Soon Lorin P. Childs, 60, passed away July 4, 2009 at his home in Hermiston, Oregon after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born February 6, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of Donald A. and Lucille R. Roe Childs. He attended Salt Lake City schools and graduated from West High School in 1967. Served his country in the US Coast Guard from 1967-1971. He spent many years installing garage doors for Crawford Door Company and Monarch Door Company before starting his career with Union Pacific Railroad. After 20 years of service, he retired June 2, 2009. He enjoyed several hobbies which included hunting, shooting, farming and raising animals. Lorin leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Goldie Carter Childs; 6 children: Carter Lorin, Michelle Lee, Katie (Cody) Bunch, Kevin Burbidge, Angela (Jayson) Hauser and Crystal (Danny) Fish; 6 grandchildren: Jordan, Sebastian Boo, Ashlyn, Addison, Wryn, Reagan; 2 brothers; 5 sisters. Preceded in death by his father and sister. A special recognition and thanks to Hospice and the medical personnel who cared for him prior to his passing. Also special thanks to the Burns Mortuary of Hermiston, Oregon. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville 14th Ward, 1250 W. 4375 S. Viewings will be held Friday, July 10, 2009, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 9-9:45 a.m. Interment, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, UT.
