Louise Matilda Root Rowley, 98, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at her home in Safford. She was born on November 24, 1913 at the Cluff Ranch in Pima, to Glen and Maggie Craig Root, the 4th of seven children. She attended school in Pima and Safford. She met her sweetheart at Safford High School, Jesse Deloss Rowley. They were married June 17, 1932, and later sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Louise was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, and served faithfully in all her church callings. She and her husband served a mission at the Independence Missouri Visitors Center, and later served in the Arizona Mesa Temple. She was a great seamstress, fantastic cook, kept a beautiful yard, and loved to spend time in the mountains. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Ann (Dan) Russell of Safford, and Peggy John of Safford; sister, Marsha Mae (Levin) Ferrin; brother, Jess Root of Mesa; 38 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Glen & Maggie Root; husband Jesse Rowley; two sons, Baby Boy, Col. Dale D. Rowley; two sisters, Elizabeth Bingham, Hermonine Kempton; two brothers, Dryden Root, Romeo Root; granddaughter, Cathy Rowley and great granddaughter, Abigail John. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Safford LDS Stake Center. Viewing will be on Monday, July 16, from 6-8 p.m. at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel, and Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery.
