Luella Joy Mordue Andersen 1943 ~ 2010 Joy passed away July 21, 2010, at home with her family by her side. She fought a good fight and we are proud of her and blessed to have her as long as we did. Joy was born July 4, 1943, in Payson, Utah, to Walter Bell and Ella (Sara Luella) Mordue. She was incredibly close to her mother as she lost her father as a teenager. Joy was raised in the Salt Lake area where she made her life long friends, The Blue Devils (they were actually all Angels). Joy graduated from West High School in 1961, and attended business schools. Joy married Robert Craig Andersen in 1965. They have three children: Amanda (Rick) Kimberlin, Danielle (Jason) Irvine, and Robert (Brandi) Andersen. Joy is Mema to 11 grandchildren, who she spoiled rotten. She is now getting the chance to spoil her granddaughter, Kylee. Joy and Craig own and operate Harrington Trucking, Inc. and they consider all of their employees family. She loved lunch with her coworkers even though it felt like breakfast sometimes as Robert made sure they were always there at 11:00 a.m. Joy had many hobbies, almost all of which included her family and friends. She golfed for many years and loved the various courses she was able to play. Her collection of golf visors was extensive. Her daughters could almost always out drive her but she managed to beat them in the short game. Joy also bowled and was in many leagues with Craig, her friends, and then her daughters. She was the captain of the Bowling Bags. Joy also liked to do crafts but it usually involved her starting a project and having someone else finish it. She loved to go to Wendover and Mesquite, but she especially enjoyed poker at the cabin with her family. Joy and Craig took many vacations with their friends and family. There were many fun trips in the Winnebago. Some of Joys favorite places to visit were Coeur d'Alene, Hawaii, Disneyland. She especially loved to go to the cabin and watch the game trail for deer, moose, fox and rabbit. She was also known to get on a four-wheeler or a snowmobile from time to time. Joy really enjoyed her second home in Mesquite, Nevada, where she could spend some quality time with a one-armed bandit. New Years Eve in Mesquite was becoming a family tradition. Joy spent a lot of time with her mother and many Fridays were spent taking her shopping, out to lunch, and just enjoying each other. That Friday tradition continued with her own kids and grandkids. Joys favorite holiday was St. Patricks Day because she could make corned beef and cabbage and drink green beer. She also loved Thanksgiving, despite her childrens complaining about having to wash the good dishes before we could eat on them. Christmases were always special. Her kids were always spoiled, and then her grandkids had their turn. She and Papa spent Christmas mornings with the grandkids in each of their homes to open their presents. Later in the day it was back to Memas for an absurd amount of presents from her and Papa. Joy was a wonderful cook and her potato salad will be especially missed. Luckily she passed down her secret ingredients for our family favorites; however, our attempts will never compare. Joy is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Betty Lewis; her granddaughter, Kylee; and dogs Peaches, Cocoa, and Money. She is survived by her husband; her children; her grandchildren Brandon, Kayla, Cheyanne, Austin, Abbie, Thomas, Jaden, Lily, Kai, and Grace; and her brother, Richard (Theola) McCloud. Joy also leaves behind many extended family members, life long friends, and her extended family at Harrington Trucking. Her dogs Cash and Cub, and her cat, Lucy, will miss her. We would like to thank Joys doctors and their staff at IMC and the Huntsman Cancer Center for all their work to make her better, and those that just made her feel better. We would also like to thank the nurses from Utah Hospice Specialists. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 26, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where a gathering will be held for family and friends on Sunday, July 25, 2010, 4-6 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services. Interment, Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
