Luther Dale Victor, aka "Crunch", was born to Tennyson Victor & Dolly Hoffman-Victor on January 7, 1965.
He was born and raised in Bylas, AZ and attended the Bylas Mission School, K through 8th grade then on to the East Fork Lutheran High School in Whiteriver, AZ. After completing High School, he went to the University of Arizona and after completing his studies, he returned to Bylas where he started his work for the San Carlos Emergency Medical Services. He became a paramedic in 1997 and served his community for a total of 32 years.
Luther was an avid supporter of Native American music, all genres. He often attended Gathering of Nations, Electric 49's, and Annual Native American Music Awards. When he wasn't serving his community, he enjoyed cooking gourmet meals from scratch, inventing new recipes and experimenting with his grills and smokers. He loved to travel and never stopped at the same place twice, discovering all of the scenic routes. He bragged how he had a taste of the United States from all across this great land. He ate at a Luau in Hawaii, king crab in Alaska, lobster in Maine, cheese in Wisconsin and BBQ ribs in Kansas City. He celebrated visiting all 50 States by the partaking of fried alligator in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2014.
Luther was baptized and confirmed a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bylas and was an active member. He believed in his Savior and he lived his life according to his faith. "Love your neighbor as yourself" was the motto of his life, and he lived it! Luther's work life revolved around E.M.S. His staff undoubtedly was his family. He held every member in the highest regards. Luther's work on the Reservation impacted many peoples lives. He was an everyday hero, and his legacy shall live on in the heart's of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his father, Tennyson Victor and his five siblings; Brenda Victor, Farlan (Anna) Victor, Loren (Carmelita) Victor, Leann Victor, Asa Ethelbah, and countless Nieces, Nephews and God Children; Joseph Casoose, Leigh Dona, Yvonne Lonnie, Elijah Hooke & Elishah Hooke.
A Wake for Luther will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Victor residence in Bylas, AZ with the funeral service on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ernest Stanley Memorial Hall with Pastor Joseph Deitrich conducting. Interment will be in the Middle Mesa Cemetery.
