Lydia B. Perez, 75 of Safford passed away May 29, 2011 in Tucson surrounded by her family. She was born December 2, 1935 in Pinos Altos, New Mexico to Vincente & Maria Bencomo. As a young girl the family moved to Arizona and at age 18, Lydia married Bobby Rios. They had 3 children; Rito, Louie and Patsy. In 1963, Lydia met and married Aurelio Perez and added son Joe Anthony and daughter Pita to the family. Lydia enjoyed cooking, sewing, and being a jokester. She was an avid Suns fan and loved to watch her grandchildren play sports. Lydia is survived by her husband Aurelio Perez of Safford, children- Rito (Marie) Rios of Safford, Louie (Sheri) Rios of Safford, Patsy (Raul) Luzania of Pima, Joe Anthony Perez of Safford, Pita Perez of Safford, 23 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and brother Henry Bencomo of Solomon. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers- Pasquel, Vincente Jr., Gilbert and Rito, sister Frances, grandson Eric Perez and two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 6-7 p.m. at the St. Rose of Lima Church. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Edward Lucero on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima.
