Maderine Duffey

Maderine Matty Duffey, 90, of Safford, entered into rest on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center. She was born on May 14, 1923 in Three Rivers, TX, to Lewis and Lillie (Cook) Keene. She moved to New Mexico as a young child. She married Floyd Eugene Duffey on May 20, 1941 in Socorro, NM. They moved to Morenci in 1941, where Floyd worked at the mine. They moved back to Socorro in 1945. They had two daughters, Renay (Don) Dickerson born in 1944 in Morenci, and Karen (Dick) Hartner born in Socorro in 1947; Seven grandchildren; Tracy (Darold) Dugie, Nicole (Jon) Sickafuse, Debra (Jeff) Clark, Travis (Julie) Greenwood, Mike Greenwood, Valerie (Hartner) Jarvis, April (Rob) McGregor; 17 great grandchildren, Katrina (Chris) Selberg, Brandon (Crystal) Cameron, Jessika (Daniel) Gomez, Zachary Sickafuse, Josiah Sickafuse, Luke Lawrenson, Ben Lawrenson, Naomi Lawrenson, Colby Greenwood, Jacob Greenwood, Jarrod Greenwood, Kyle Greenwood, Maghan (Gabe) Sanchez, Joshua Jarvis, Kayla Hartner, Stormy Reynolds, Alyssa McGregor; 12 great great grandchildren, McKenna Selberg, Madison Selberg, Abriana Cameron, Ayden Cameron, Bianca Gomez, Daniel Gomez, Jr., Jordan Gomez, Bianca Sanchez, Brylee Sanchez, Gavyana Sanchez, Derryk Cordova, and Aubriella Hartner. Floyd and Mattie moved to Safford in 1984. Floyd died in 2000. In 2001, Mattie met Morgan Hubbard they were very good companions until Morgan died in 2012. Mattie enjoyed all of her family, and her Penny Bingo at the Senior Citizens. She also went to bingo at the American Legion. She had 13 sisters and brothers, all deceased except Bootsie (Jim) Albert. Her hobby was making handmade quilts. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Friends may call one hour prior to services for viewing. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery.
