Manual Friday Hernandez died on Sunday, April 21. He was born on May 14, 1928 to Carlotta Montez and Jose Angel Hernandez. He was known and loved by many. He is preceded in death by sister, Catalina, his parents, brothers, Efren and Albert (Veto), and two great nephews, Jacob and Joseph. He is survived by two brothers, Joe (Corine) and Jesus (Cecelia), many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He graduated from the 8th grade from Solomon School. During his life, he worked different jobs. One of his first jobs was working at the Inspection Station in San Jose working at Plumas. He was also the mail courier for the downtown Safford stores delivering mail to from store to store. He also worked in grocery stores in Solomon and Safford. He was best known for his service to the community. He was a long time member of the Jaycees where he was able to travel through the United States and was even able to travel to Canada. He volunteered for the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and helped to deliver meals to the elderly. He was also a longtime member of the Safford Lions Club distributing eye glasses to the needy. The Lions Club recently paid a tribute to him. Viewing will be at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Rosary will be led at 10 a.m. Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Safford Lions Club.
