Marjorie Nelson

Biography Marjorie Isobel Nelson, 95 of Safford, Arizona passed away July 8, 2013 at Haven of Safford Nursing Home. Isobel was born in Lineville, Iowa on March 26, 1918 to George and Ruby Murphy. As a young woman she moved to Safford where she lived all of her adult life. Isobel worked in her husband's medical practice with him in Safford, and tirelessly as a volunteer at Safford Inn Hospital and later Mount Graham Community Hospital. With all her family residing outside of Safford she was fortunate to have dear friends Frances Dominguez and Margaret Schade, who spent time with her, cared for her and brought her much comfort. Isobel's family is extremely grateful for the loving care and kindness they provided to her during her lifetime. Isobel's family knows she has found peace, love and understanding with our Lord. They also wish to thank the staff of Haven of Safford for their kindness and tireless efforts to bring comfort to Isobel. Isobel is survived by her son Nelson Story Nelson (Rita) and stepchildren Karen Olson (Tom), and Don Nelson; grandchildren, Lennie Woodruff (Vickie), Christopher Woodruff (Debbie), Holly Leckie (Bryce)S., Alexis Gehringer (Mark) and 13 great-grandchildren. Her former daughter-in-law, Susan McKelvey, was a caring mainstay in her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald E. Nelson, daughter Timilie Woodruff, step-mother Nellie Murphy and four siblings. A private family memorial will be held in Phoenix.
