Marvin Joseph McCabe, 56, of Safford, Arizona entered into eternal rest on Saturday July 21, 2012, in Safford, Arizona. Marvin was born on January 26, 1956, in Tuba City, Arizona to William and Rebecca McCabe. Marvin was the oldest of his five siblings. He grew up in Ganado, Arizona and attended school there and graduated from Ganado High School in 1974. After graduation he moved to Tempe to attend Arizona State University and majored in Engineering. He later changed his major and moved to Thatcher to attend E.A.C. graduating with an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Justice Administration. He then attended the Police Academy where he met his future wife, Jessie Baca. They fell in love and after a long relationship of six months they were married on June 18, 1977. Marvin lived in Arizona all his life, residing in St. Johns, Thatcher, Pima, and finally making his home in Safford with his wife Jessie, Daughter Megan and son Matthew. He started at the Safford Police Department and worked his way up to Sergeant before retiring in 2000. He was later given the opportunity to serve as Judge Pro Temp and later ran for election as Justice of the Peace. In 2003 he started working for Mount Graham Regional Medical Center in the Security Department and worked his way up to Security/ Safety Supervisor. Marvin enjoyed many things, including home improvements on his house, traveling, taking Jessie to concerts, always rooting for the home team and attending as many games as he could. But his favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family. Marvin was extremely intelligent and continued to educate himself every day. If you asked him a question that he didnt know, he would find out for you. He was very active in the community participating in various events including the Fraternal Order of Police, Safford Lions and Cursillista in the St. Rose of Lima parish. Marvin is survived by his wife of 35 years Jessie McCabe of Safford, his daughter Megan McCabe, grandson Raymond Escobar and his son Matthew (Veronica) McCabe all from Safford. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents William and Rebecca McCabe, brother Duane McCabe, and niece Elizabeth Ablowitz. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday July 31, 2012 at 11am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. A viewing will be held from 6-8pm on Monday July 30, 2012 at St. Rose of Lima with the Rosary being recited at 7pm. Interment will be at the Safford Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the American Legion Post 95 in Solomon.
