Mary Anderson

Mary Payne Anderson, 95, a lifelong resident of Virden, New Mexico, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center,in Safford. She has been living with her daughter Naoma in Pima for the past 5 years. She was born on May 21, 1916 in Canutillo, TX, to Archibald D Payne and Emma Smith. She married Andrew L Anderson on November 2, 1935 in Virden, NM. They later solemnized their marriage on November 27, 1956 in the Mesa LDS Temple. Andrew passed away in October of 1976. Mary served a mission for the LDS Church in 1980 in Wisconsin. She is survived by her 6 children, Nelda Potter of Virden, Naoma & Clay Larson of Pima, A.L. & Marilyn Anderson of Duncan, Bob & Patty Anderson of Virden, Ron & Linda Anderson of Gilbert, and Pat & Teddy French of Pima; sister, Winifred White of St. David; brothers, Archie & June Payne of Virden, and Nevin & Jayne Payne of Mesa; 33 grandchildren, 74 great grandchildren, and 30 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Duncan LDS Stake Center. There will be a viewing on Friday, December 9, from 6-8 p.m. at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel, in Safford, and Saturday one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Virden Cemetery.
