Mary Jane Anderson 05-06-23 ~ 11-06-08 Mary Jane Anderson, 85, passed away on Nov. 6th from complications of cancer. She was born May 6, 1923 in Wichita Falls, TX to parents Frankie Deuritha and Eugene Walton Thompson. She married John Anderson on January 5, 1944. Mary was an avid artisan and won numerous awards for her quilts and crochet work. She enjoyed teaching her family the art of knitting, crocheting and quilting. She belonged to a quilting club along with many of her friends. She made a quilt for each and every member of her family. Her hands were always busy making something. She was known throughout the years for entertaining and was an outstanding cook. She enjoyed having her family around, especially on holidays. There was always a big celebration. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and made sure that she always had cookies and apple juice for them when they visited. Mary was a member of Beta Sigma Phi (Laureate Zeta Chapter) for over 50 years. She was a past president of her sorority and also held all other positions on the board. She loved her garden and was especially fond of pink roses. She is survived by her son, Gary Lee (Irmaleda) Anderson, Provo, UT and daughter, Karen Williams of SLC; grandsons Bradford (Jenifer), Sam (Jenni), J.C., Eric (Tiffany) and Zachary (Megan); granddaughters Mettamarie (Robert), and Wendy (Nick); eleven great grandchildren, Corey, Michael Jr., Seaerra Mishael, Jacob, Braxten, Seth, Gabriel, Seth, John, Skyli, and Justin; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by sisters: Della V. (Sam) Roberts, SLC, Dollie Jenkins, Phoenix, AZ, Frances Redd, Montrose, CO, Martha Edwards, Paris, TX, Marie Capps, Grand Prarie, TX, Doris Covey, Sacramento, CA; and a brother, Robert Thompson, La Cross, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Susan; grandson, Michael; granddaughter, Linda; great granddaughter, Kristy. The family wishes to thank her niece Mary Cheel for her loving care. We also wish to thank the staff at CareSource Hospice. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 12, 11:00 A.M.. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where a viewing will be held Tuesday 6 - 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday 10-10:45 A.M. A broken circle will follow the viewing Tuesday at 8:00 P.M. Interment Redwood Memorial Estates.
