Mary Lena Klapwyk Pace 1917 ~ 2007 Mary was born on September 28, 1917 to Gerrit and Jannetje Klapwyk in Fruita, Colorado. She died in Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 3, 2007 after several years of failing health. She married Jack Fairbanks Pace on May 23, 1935 in Grand Junction, Colorado. She and Jack moved to Utah in 1940. After Jack retired from Chevron Oil, they moved to Green Valley, Arizona, where they spent many happy years. Mary loved reading and her flowers. She was an avid fan of the Jazz basketball team and never missed a game on TV. She sang in the First Congregational Church choir for many years and later in the church choir in Green Valley. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Pace Underwood; 4 grandchildren, Becky Underwood, Jody (Nick) Mott, Heidy Wieder and John (Jen) Underwood; 9 great grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary on September 28, 2007, which would have been Marys 90th birthday. Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away to the next room. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Play, smile and think of me in our happier days without a trace of shadow. Life means all it ever meant. All is well.
