Matthew Anderson

Matthew Soloman Anderson, Sr., also known to many as "Ban" was born in Bylas, Arizona to Paul Anderson, Sr., and Maggie Rope Anderson on May 11, 1946. He was the 8th of 12 children. Ban attended Fort Thomas High School and graduated in 1964. He then went on to work for the mine in Globe, Arizona for 6 years and then worked for Eastern Railway for 21 years before retiring in 2010. He married Yvonne Bylas Anderson and they had 1 son, Matthew Anderson, Jr., also known as "Toyoko". Later in his life he met Connie Longstreet Dosela and they were together for 37 years. Ban was a joker and teased everybody, especially his nieces and nephews. Many people made remarks and indicated how he was always smiling, but don't let that smile fool you, as he teased and joked around frequently. He was very compassionate about being in the outdoors, where he enjoyed fishing with his son and nephews. He devoted many hours to planting and was known for his gardening (like peach trees, fruit trees and other vegetables), as he had a green thumb. Matthew is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Anderson, Sr. and Maggie Rope Anderson, his brothers Edward Anderson, Sr., Frederick Anderson, Sr., Floyd Anderson, Sr., Ned Anderson, Sr. and Jimmy Anderson. He is survived by his companion Connie Longstreet Dosela, his son Matthew Anderson, Jr., and siblings Rosaita Anderson Wolf, Merceline Anderson, Leon Anderson, Sr., Paul Anderson, Jr., Terry Anderson, Sr., Beatrice Lucero, and countless Nieces and Nephews. A viewing will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 beginning at 6:00 a.m. with the funeral services starting at 1:00 p.m. at the House of God Church in Bylas, Arizona with Pastor Terry Anderson conducting. Interment will be in the Navajo Point Cemetery following services.
