Mayburn Curtis, 87 of Safford passed away June 4, 2011 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born November 4, 1923 to Eugene and Pearl Woods Curtis. He graduated from Pima High School. Mayburn married his high school sweetheart, Betty Woolsey Curtis and they were later sealed in the Mesa LDS Temple. He served in the US Navy during WWII as a radio/signal man. Mayburn owned and operated a construction company for many years with his son Dalton. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty and sons Jeffrey & Dalton Curtis. Mayburn is survived by his daughters Judy Johnson and Jill (Bruce) Beecroft; 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and sister Margaret Tancy. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, June 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Safford LDS Stake Center by Bishop Tim McHugh of the Safford 5th Ward. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery with military honors provided by the Gila Valley Honor Guard.
