Michael Goseyun

Biography Michael James Goseyun, Sr. was born to Daisy Hinton Goseyun of Geronimo, Arizona & Grey Goseyun of Bylas, Arizona on January 20, 1954 in San Carlos Hospital at 4:30 p.m. Michael was a Tribal Enrolled Member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe. Many know Michael as "Mike". At the age of 2 his father Grey Goseyun passed and his mother Daisy remarried to Dan Goseyun of Calva Arizona. Mike would always say "Dan is my dad because he raised me and taught me the ways of a Cowboy". Mike went to the day school in Bylas and later went on to Fort Thomas Elementary and Fort Thomas High School, he only pursued his education till the 11th grade. After school he decided to take on his first job as a Cowboy under Ash Creek Association when he was 16 yrs. Old, he worked there for 2 years. Then his second job was a Cowboy at Slaughter Association for one year. Then he went on working up in Point of Pines as a horse breaker for a few months. He met Darlene Norman in 1975 and she bore him a daughter in 1978 and named her Dena Norman. March 23, 1979 he married Darlene Norman of Bylas at the court house in Safford. In 1980 Darlene bore Mike a son and they named him Michael James Goseyun, Jr. and from there he was employed under the I.D.T. as a Horse Breaker, breaking horses for a few years. Then in 1983 Darlene and Mike had another son and they named him Manuel James Goseyun. In 1985 Darlene and Mike became foster parents to Cedrick Stanley. His working career took him to many places such as Clover Ranch, Point of Pines Ranch, Ash Creek Ranch, Willow Mountain Ranch, Peridot I.D.T. Corrals for breaking horses, Slaughter Mountain Ranch, Shelter Care in San Carlos, Janitor at Peridot Headstart, Bylas O.A.C., and Bylas Farms. In the year if 1998 Darlene and Mike adopted Jesus Pike as their son. Mike was a man of many hobbies and was a jack of all trades. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, ranching, horseback riding, camping, puzzles, painting, drawing, wood carving, leather glove making, crossword puzzles, card playing, cook-outs, raising baby animals, horseshoeing, cattle roping, branding, fence repairing, corral building, horse saddle construction, repairman, bull rope braiding, building shade houses, shacks, homes and teaching horseback riding. He was a man that could make you laugh with his jokes. He was a very picky eater but once he found something he liked to eat there was no stopping him at consuming as much as he can, especially Apache Tamale's and loved to butcher cows at which he would utilize every part of the animal and eat every meaty parts of the animal from the nose to the tail, from the horn down to the hooves. He was complaining of pain and went to the E.R. in San Carlos on February 5, 2016 and did further testing. He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer on February 9, 2016. During this short time of knowing he had cancer the family took him for a steam boat ride at Canyon Lake where he was blessed to see bighorn sheep and eagles. His last trip up to see the Point of Pines Lake and ranch was February 28, 2016. On Tuesday March 15th his family and relatives and friends had a cook-out with him to spend quality time with him. Shortly that evening he was having complications breathing as the family and relatives were called back and gathered to comfort him through the long night and early in the morning of March 16, 2016 at 2:32 a.m. he took the hands of the Lord stepped into Eternal Life as he was escorted by Angels into Glory his family was mourning his passing. Michael James Goseyun, Sr. was 62 years old, and was a husband, father, uncle, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend. He is the son of the late Daisy Hinton and Grey Bryon Goseyun, the grandson of the late Manuel Manny Hinton and Florence Gilbert Hinton, and the late David Dan Goseyun, Sr. an Mattie Gerry Goseyun. He is the brother of Larry Goseyun, Spencer Goseyun, Delores Goseyun, Norbert Goseyun, Sr., Genevive (Ferris) Elgo, Etheleen (Myron) Moses, Sharon Goseyun, Sandra Goseyun, Ronson (Velda Rose) Goseyun, Gary (Geneva) Goseyun, Marty Dan Goseyun, and Edwin Dan Goseyun and numerous Uncles, Aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Daisy, Grey and Dan, 4 brothers, Larry, Spencer, Marty and Edwin Goseyun, and 1 sister Delores Goseyun. Michael "Mike" will be greatly missed. On behalf of the family we thank you for your prayers, condolences, financial help, man power, lending out your vehicles for wake work, and food and woods. His wake will be on March 25th Friday at the Goseyun's residence in White City Bylas Arizona and Funeral will be held at The House of Prayer in Black Point Bylas Arizona. The Burial services will take place in the Upper Navajo Point Cemetery.
