Michael Lopez

Michael Barrios Lopez, 61, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020. Michael was born on May 8, 1959, to George Lopez and Mary Lou Barrios with siblings George, Gloria, Vivian, Steve, Tony, and Daniel. Michael graduated from Morenci High School in 1977 and went on to work for Phelps Dodge, then to Garrett/Allied Signal, Honeywell, DES, and finally Freeport MacMoran, as a lab tech. Michael was blessed with the births of each of his children; Deanna, Michelle, Miguel, and Isabel. He loved watching sports and playing sports back in the day. He also enjoyed drinking beer and listening to music, and collecting sports cards. Some of his favorite sayings were "What's the word?", and "It is what it is." Michael was a caring and giving but stubborn man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his children Deanna (Manny) Cota, Michelle Lopez, Miguel (Debi) Lopez, and Isabel (Casey) Rita. Michael is also survived by his father George Lopez, his siblings Gloria Farlow, Vivian Lopez, Steve Lopez, and Tony Lopez, and 9 grandchildren. Michael is preceded in death by his mother MaryLou Lopez, and his brothers Georgie & Daniel Lopez. A Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ followed by the interment in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery also in Mesa, AZ.
