Mike Holguin, 90, of Safford, Arizona, died January 11, 2012, at the Veterans Hospital in Tucson, Arizona surrounded by family. He was born October 21, 1921 in Clifton, Arizona. He was the oldest of 4 siblings. He married Katy Garcia on April 27th, 1951 and the two of them had 4 daughters. He served in the U.S. Army. He attended Phoenix Technical School receiving a degree in Electric Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. He was a self-employed entrepreneur with his own business, Mikes Refrigeration Service for over 50 years. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, dancing, prospecting and loved being creative in his shop, where family, friends and neighbors would stop by frequently, to visit about the events of the day over a cup of coffee or cold beer. No one was a stranger to Mike. He was known as Daddy by his daughters and Papa by his grandchildren and great grandchildren who will all fondly remember his bear hugs and grunters! He is survived by his wife Katy Holguin of Safford, Arizona, his daughter and son in law, Becki and Glen Polcyn of Sedona, AZ; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Dean Richins of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Jessie Holguin of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Micah Snodgrass, Jenny Dobson, Grady Polcyn and Paris Polcyn; three great-grandchildren and three more on the way. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Arturo and Lolis Holguin; his sister, Celia Holguin; his daughter, Diane Holguin; and his great- grandson, Chandler Dobson. A rosary service will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 with the viewing beginning at 5:00 p.m. and the Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at McDougals Caldwell Funeral Chapel in Safford. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church in Safford, Arizona with Rev. Father Edward Lucero as celebrant.
