Millicent Horton

MILLICENT R. HORTON 1930 ~ 2007 On August 6, 2007, Millicent R. Horton passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 77 years young. Born May 12, 1930 to John & Corrine Rief in Detroit, Michigan. Married Arthur Mayer in Detroit; later divorced after 21 years and three children. She then married Grady Gorton and moved to Texas where she spent the next twenty-one years before moving to Utah for another 20+ years. She worked with the DTC in both Houston and Salt Lake City retiring in 1987. She returned to work at St. Mathews Lutheran Church as secretary for many years until open heart surgery took her sight in 2003. She is survived by daughters, Pamela Versaw, Salt Lake and Susan (Henry) Comperchio, Jackson, Michigan; son-in-law, Alan Sawinski, Warren, Michigan; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Horton and daughter, Cindy Sawinski. Memorial services will be held Friday, August 10th, 3:00 p.m. at St. Mathews Lutheran Church, 5200 South 2700 West. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
