Miriam L. Mackay She served others first Miriam Latimer Mackay, born October 4, 1917, passed away on September 2, 2009, surrounded by family members, at the home of her daughter, Robyn Harwood, in West Jordan, Utah, from causes incident to age. During her life she was active in community serving as PTA president and working in other civic responsibilities. She was also active in the LDS Church and served with honor in many positions including Jr. Sunday Coordinator and Ward Relief Society President. She was first of all a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Miriam was considered by all of the family as a person in whom they could trust, confide and depend, as a result she was relied on by all of the family. Miriam loved to serve. She also enjoyed spending time with club a group of friends with whom she and Rulon met monthly for many years and with whom they went on many extended trips. She and Rulon also traveled extensively throughout the world, but their favorite vacations were spent in the Uinta Mountains at Blacks Fork with not only their immediate, but also extended family members and friends. Miriam was an accomplished artist and her paintings now adorn the homes of many of her children and grandchildren as well as other friends and family. She loved stringing beads and crocheting dish cloths. She also took great pride in keeping her home and yard beautifully maintained. Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, Rulon B. Mackay and brothers-in-law, Howard, Newel and Brent Mackay; and grandson, Wayne A Mackay. She is survived by all of her brothers and sisters: Larue and James Schoenfield, Merlin and Virginia Latimer, Regene Mackay, and Louis and Ruth Latimer, her five children: Kay and Austin Burton, Dean and Cindy Mackay, Dawn and Ray Anderson, Robyn and Kenny Harwood,, and Wayne and Mignon Mackay; 19 grandchildren; 47 great -grand children, with 3 more on the way. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville 24th Ward, 2976 West 4270 South. Viewings will be held Monday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Tuesday at the church, 9:45 - 10:40 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
