Myrtle Vaughn, 95, passed away November 11, 2018 in Safford. She was born to Marian and Ethel Davis on April 1, 1923 in Swenson, Texas, where she also attended school.
Myrtle later moved to the Phoenix/Mesa area and then onto the Bisbee area with her husband Jessie Vaughn, who worked for the railroad. Myrtle and Jessie had three children Edna, Danny, and Jessie. Myrtle raised her family in Bisbee, Arizona, and then on Christmas Day 1974 the Bisbee mine shut down forcing Myrtle and Jessie to move to Safford so he could continue to work for the mine.
In 1992 Myrtle's loving husband passed away, she continued to live in Safford until her passing. Myrtle was a wonderful cook and is known to her friends and family for her famous beans, a recipe fortunately passed to the next generation. She was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and was here for one last Cowboys win.
Myrtle is survived by her children Edna Marie Stumbo and Danny Vaughn as well as 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Marian and Ethel Davis, her husband Jessie Vaughn, and one of her sons Jessie Vaughn.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at the McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery following services.
