Nadine Polanco Carrasco, 82, of Safford, passed away August 29, 2017 in Tucson, Arizona. She was born June 25, 1935 in Gila, New Mexico to Lucio Sanchez Polanco & Patrocinia Lopez Polanco.
Nadine met and married Jose Carrasco on September 23, 1952 and together they raised their family of 9 children; Lenny, Clara, Weda, Cyndi, Albert, Danny, Lencho, Oscar and Paul. She was a very active in her home life and in the community. She worked as a case manager for Social Services, was involved in Community Action, the Little Hollywood Association, Lulac, Chicano Por la Causa, Self Help Housing, Beneficio Propio and was a Grand Marshall for St. Rose of Lima.
In her spare time, Nadine loved to play softball, sewing, cooking, fishing, camping, crocheting and was a fan to all her children in all their sporting events. Nadine earned her GED while here in Safford and then worked hard to make sure that each of her children graduated from high school. Raising her children was her passion and was very proud of all of them. In her later years, she enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in each of their sporting events as well.
Nadine is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Jose Carrasco, her children; Lenny Carrasco, Clara Carrasco, Weda Brisco, Cyndi Arbizo, Albert Carrasco, Danny Carrasco, Lencho Carrasco, Oscar Carrasco and Paul Carrasco, her siblings; Ray Polanco, Lencho Polanco, Mary Estrada, Romie Perez and Cody Villalba, 34 grandchildren, 106 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucio & Patrocinia Polanco.
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the Rosary being led at 10:00 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Robert Rodriguez as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery following services.
