Nancy Ruthe Layton was born September 10, 1947 in Silver City, New Mexico to Charlie and Ruthe Foxworth. She lived most of her life in Arizona and graduated from Safford High School in 1965. She is survived by three childrenLisa (David) Wood, Wendy Layton, and Zeke Standifird and by nine grandchildren plus one on the wayKody Evans, Weston Evans, Tiarra Evans, Natalie Wood, Dylan Abeyta, Ryder Abeyta, Cameron Standifird, Cayla Standifird, Caden Standifird, and Lilly Standifird (due in December). Nancy is also survived by siblings Marion Tenney, Ginger Williamson, and Robert Foxworth. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Jimmy Foxworth and Charlie B. Foxworth, Jr. Nancy lived the majority of her life in Safford where she served as a postal carrier for Rural Route One. She loved her postal customers and made many lifelong friendships with the people she served. She retired from the post office in 2010 and was finally able to spend her time doing what she was most passionate abouttending and working with her horses. She loved taking her ponies and horses to birthday parties and events in town and offering others the chance to do the thing she loved so much . . . riding horses. She especially loved teaching children how to ride and care for horses. Nancy was an active and well-loved member of the First United Methodist church in Safford throughout her life. Nancy was known as a very generous woman who loved people and animals. She was always helping those in need and adopting pets who needed homes. She enjoyed traveling, camping, trail riding, reading, and spending time with family and friends. A viewing will be held Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1020 S. 10th Avenue in Safford, Arizona with services to follow at 2 p.m. All who knew and loved Nancy are invited to attend.
