Nathan Thomas Kempton passed away Monday, January 14 at his home in Litchfield Park AZ with his wife Linda at his side. Tom was born in Solomonville, AZ. on October 24, 1933. He attended Solomonville Elementary, Safford High School and graduated from the University of Arizona in 1955 with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married his high school sweetheart Linda Lines in 1952. Tom and Linda raised their four children in Scottsdale AZ. His family was his greatest joy. He loved being with them all, and will be remembered as an incredible father, grandfather and great grandfather. Tom was a planner of many reunions for the generations of his family and for the SHS class of 1951.
He was a lifelong active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and developed a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice. Tom served in many leadership positions for the Church through out his life, and magnified each calling. Service brought him great happiness.
Tom was a respected and successful Aero-space Engineer. He began working for Garret Air Research/Allied Signal in 1956, and retired from that company in 2003 at age 70. He loved the industry and his job, he really did whistle on his way to work.
Tom is survived by his wife Linda of 66 years, his children: Randall (Beth), Michal , Nate (Fonda), Kristofer (Amy), his ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. His brothers Kenneth, Richard and sister Brenda McConkie. He was preceded in death by his son Joshua,
Brothers Steven and Larry and his parents Pearl and Clyde Kempton.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 23 from 6 to 8 pm followed by services Thursday morning at 11 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Litchfield Park, Arizona. 301 W Wigwam Blvd, Litchfield Park, AZ 85340
Graveside services will be held in the Safford Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 25.
