Nathaniel Matthews

Nathaniel Nate Matthews, age 56, of Safford was born November 1, 1957 in Patagonia, AZ to Shirley and Vorris Matthews. Nate began working as a senior in high school and worked and played hard all of his life. He loved to go hunting and fishing. Whenever he had time off, you knew he was out in the boonies or building something. The only time Nate sat still was when a NASCAR race was on. Nate was the kind of person who would help a total stranger. He will be missed by many people, but we all know that he has gone hunting. Nate is survived by his daughter; Beth (Sean) Erickson, grandchildren; Katelyn Erickson, Ryder and Teagen Whittington, Charlie, Jordan and Hunter Matthews, girlfriend; Jana Crisler, brothers; Jerry and Tim Matthews, and his dog; Bonehead. A Viewing for Nate will be held Saturday, August 9th at 9:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service at 10 a.m. at McDougals Caldwell Chapel. Interment will follow in the Safford Cemetery.
