Naydell Ball

Naydell Dees Ball, 80, of Safford, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at her home in Safford. She was born on May 16, 1931, in Mesa, to Rozeal Preston Dees, and Zina Adell Harper. She married David William Ball on June 15, 1951 in Lordsburg, NM. A year later their marriage was solemnized in the Mesa LDS Temple. Naydell attended school in Mesa, graduating from the old Mesa High School. She met her husband while working at the Dairy Queen. Together they raised eight children. They spent ten years in Mesa, AZ, then moved to Colorado Springs, CO, for a year, and then moved to Tacoma WA, for three and a half years, then to Gilbert, AZ, and then settled in Virden, NM for 32 years. She has lived in Safford for the past eight years. Her husband David passed away on March 22, 2007 in Safford. Naydell was an excellent cake decorator, and designed many wedding cakes. She also had a knack for floral design, and many of her floral arrangement have been enjoyed by many at church, she always made sure there were flowers there. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a Relief Society President three times, and was a very dedicated president, she also served in the primary for many years. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Eyre of West Valley, UT, Dennis William Ball of Coolidge, AZ, Sylvia (Jim) Allred of Safford, AZ, David Kevin (Barbara) Ball, of Thatcher, AZ, Darrell (Sheri) Ball of Kansas City, MO, and Charlene (Lann) Moore of Socorro, NM; 23 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Solomon LDS Church, with Bishop Wes Reidhead officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church.
