Ned Anderson

Ned Anderson, Sr., 72, of Bylas, entered into rest April 16, 2015 in Safford, AZ. Ned was born January 18, 1943 to Paul and Maggie Anderson in San Carlos, AZ. Ned graduated from Fort Thomas High School in 1962 then attended Eastern Arizona College where he earned his Associate of Arts Degree in 1964. From there Ned went to the University of Arizona where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1967 then continued his studies at the U of A where he earned his Juris Doctorate Degree (law degree) in 1973 and made the Deans List in the College of Law. During this time at U of A he was a member of the Law School Admissions Committee and the Student Bar Association. In 1987 Ned went back to school at Eastern Arizona College where he earned his Associate of Applied Science Degree. During his time earning his education he met and married the love of his life, Delphina Hinton and to this union were born their children; Theresa, Linette, Magdalene, Ned, Jr and Sean. Ned worked hard and held several positions as a Tribal leader: San Carlos Central Arizona Project Director, Director of Tribal Construction Program, former San Carlos Apache Tribal Councilman, Private Consultant and former San Carlos Apache Tribal Chairman. These are just a few of the many jobs that Ned had during his years of service. Ned had many hobbies that he enjoyed which included; hunting, fishing, family activities and gatherings, writing, reading and storytelling. He always looked forward to hunting season and spending time with his grandchildren. Ned is survived by his loving wife Delphina, children; Theresa Anderson, Linette (Emmanuel) Thompson, Magdalene Anderson, Ned (Teryn) Anderson Jr., and Sean (Angelisa) Anderson, siblings: Rosarita Wolf, Merceline Anderson, Leon Anderson Sr., Matthew Anderson Sr., Paul Anderson Jr., Terry Anderson Sr., and Beautrice Anderson, 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul Sr. and Maggie Anderson, and brothers; Edward, Floyd Sr., Frederick and Jimmy Anderson. A viewing for Ned will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Ned will then be lying in State at the San Carlos Burdette Hall on Friday, April 24th from noon until 3:30 p.m. A wake will then be held on Friday, April 24th at the Anderson residence in Bylas beginning at 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 25th at 1:00 p.m. at the Ernest Stanley Memorial Activity Center with interment in the Navajo Point Cemetery in Bylas, AZ. Donations for the Scholarship Fund may be made to McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
