Norma Salazar was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She left this world suddenly on August 20, 2022 at the age of 53 in Flagstaff, AZ, surrounded by her many loved ones.
She was born on August 11, 1969 in Morenci, AZ to Santiago and Olivia Salazar. The youngest of 6 children, her older brothers and sisters loved her dearly. After graduating from Duncan High School in 1987 Norma attended cosmetology school, it was a passion of hers and she was known for always styling family and friends’ hair for special occasions. She later married and started a family. Norma loved motherhood and her two daughters more than anything and she was thrilled to become a grandmother, always buying toys and playing with her grandbabies. They loved their Nana. Her energy and excitement were contagious and made her a favorite of all the kids in the family throughout the years. She also spent many years as a care taker for children with special needs and volunteering as a substitute teacher, her compassionate soul found joy in helping others. Norma had a smile that could light up a room and will be truly missed by all who loved her.
Norma is survived by her children Jessenda (David) Price and Miranda (Robert) Gurtler, her grandchildren Keira, Luca, Caelum, and Asher, her two sisters and three brothers, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. She was preceded in death by both of her parents.
A funeral service will be held at the Duncan Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Friday September 2, 2022.
