Overson Billy, 64, passed away April 23, 2015 in Mesa, AZ. Overson was born February 2, 1951 to David and Delia Papoose Billy in Bylas, AZ. He attended Bylas Day School, Fort Thomas Elementary School and was a Sargent in the ROTC while attending Phoenix Indian High School graduating in 1970. He was also a United States Marine Corp Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1969. Overson liked to stay informed on current events and was always reading the newspapers. He enjoyed the rodeos and being with family and friends. He also enjoyed driving semi-trucks and school buses and was a San Carlos High School bus driver before he had to retire. He was always helping families with events especially when it involved music and dance, two of his favorite things to do. He is survived by his companion since 1977, Rhea Stanley and her five children; Garrick Stanley, Rebecca (Michael) Patterson, Leola (Harold) Baylish, Andrew Stanley and Maryanne Stanley, grandson Eric Stanley, siblings; Carol Jean (Huston Dory Hinton, Sr.) Hunter, Clarissa Charley, Elva Billy Edwards, Daniel Jess (Velma) Billy, Steve Billy, Lybert Bond, Jr, Larry James Bond, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Overson was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Laner who was a member of the Southern Ute Indians, parents David Billy and Delia Bond, son O'Brien from Towaoc, CO, brother-in-law Timothy Charley, and nephew Houston Dory Hinton, Jr. He contributed many things in this life but the most important to him was adding to the stability of education for all the children in his life. A wake will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at the Bond residence in Bylas. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church with the interment in the Bylas Heights Cemetery.
