Patricia La Rue

Patricia June La Rue, 78, of Safford, passed away December 28, 2015 in Tucson. She was born June 11, 1937 in Bisbee, AZ to Grady M. & Katie O. Harrelson. She attended schools in Douglas and graduated from Douglas High School in 1955. She married Norman La Rue, Sr. in Rodeo, NM on July 9, 1961 and to that union three children were born; Jessica La Rue, Norman La Rue, Jr. and Brenda La Rue. Pat was one of the original members of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Douglas, AZ.She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was especially thrilled to play with the great-grandchildren. Pat was an avid reader and enjoyed mysteries and one of her favorite authors was Phillis Whitney. She also loved to travel with particular focus on historical sites and museums. At one point she was lucky enough to visit the Vicksburg Battle Field in Mississippi. She was also a volunteer for the hospital auxiliary at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center.Pat touched many lives in both her personal life and during her professional career as a self-employed accountant. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.She is survived by her children; Jessica La Rue and Norman La Rue, Jr., three grandchildren; Colter Ellis, Justin Wayne and William Dean La Rue, and her six great-grandchildren; Madeline, Ty, Nevaeh, Sophia, Alivia and Zirah La Rue.Pat was preceded in death by her parents; Grady & Katie Harrelson, husband Norman La Rue, Sr. daughter Brenda La Rue, and brother and sister-in-law Joe and Donna Harrelson.A Funeral Service for Pat will be held at Caldwell Funeral Chapel on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 2:15 p.m. Interment will follow in the Safford Cemetery.
