Paula Sierra, 96, of Morenci entered into rest August 28, 2013. Paula was born March 20, 1917 to Refugio Diaz and Paula Esparza. After graduating from Morenci High School, Paula worked at the Morenci Hospital as a cook, and doing housekeeping for various members of the Phelps Dodge Management family. On June 21, 1947 she married her sweetheart, Margarito R. Sierra and devoted her life to raising her family. She enjoyed casinos and was an avid Bingo player. Paula loved taking her children to sporting events, and was known for making the best homemade tortillas, often chasing the kids away to keep them from eating them all. She also loved listening to Mexican music and watching Lets Make a Deal. Paula prayed the rosary daily at 6:30 p.m. with EWTN. Paula is survived by her daughter, Mary Sierra; grandchildren, Steven Butler of Safford and Stephanie (Jason) Butler McEuen of Morenci; seven great-grandchildren, Jamie, Stevie, Paula, Steven, Presten, Daylen and Kayslyn. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents; daughters, Dorothy and Alice; son, James Ruben; 1 grandson; and 5 brothers and 2 sisters. A viewing will be conducted on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
