Pearl Smith, born as Pearl Jennings on the 2nd of January 1937, in the picturesque town of Gainsborough, UK, passed away peacefully on the 29th of July 2023. To know Pearl was to be touched by an extraordinary spirit, a vibrant woman whose warmth and kindness radiated outwards, touching the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Pearl was an individual of exceptional strength and resilience, a beacon of light in the lives of her family and friends. As Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel," and these words encapsulate Pearl’s essence perfectly.
In 1962, Pearl married the love of her life, William Smith, and together they journeyed through life, creating memories and sharing experiences until his passing. Pearl was a compassionate woman who dedicated 20 years of her life to caring for others as a caregiver in the healthcare industry. The empathy and care she extended to others was a true testament to her character. Pearl's life was a living embodiment of the quote by Mother Teresa, "Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier." She lived by this mantra, spreading love and positivity everywhere she went and making everyone around her feel happier and loved.
Pearl made Safford, Arizona her home for the last 40 years, where she raised her son Howard Smith, who survives her, along with his wife Shanda Smith, and their son, Robert Smith, Pearl’s beloved grandson. Pearl was preceded in death by her father, George Corcoran, and mother, Eva Barford. We will gather to honor Pearl's life on Saturday, 12th August 2023 at 10:00am MST at the McDougal Caldwell Funeral Chapel located at 112 East Main Street, Safford, Arizona, 85546.
