Pete P. Gallegos Our Hero Pete Pasqual Gallegos, 82, passed away July 25, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born October 23, 1925 in Cuba, New Mexico to Felicito and Juanita Valdez Gallegos. He married Rumelia Arellenes September 19, 1948 and loved her very much. Pete served in the US Army, WWII veteran and fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was a guard at the Nuremberg Trials. He worked for 30 years at Kennecott Copper Corp, enjoyed going to Wendover, had a great sense of humor and was a dedicated family man. He spent his retirement years working as a crossing guard and being with his family. Survived by his wife, Rumelia; 13 children: Geraldine, Joe, Michael, Desi, Lucy, Elaine, Felix, Pete Jr., Dorothy, Janie, David, Barbara and Randy; 50 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters; 1 brother. Preceded in death by 3 children: Rudy, Mary and Albert; 3 grandchildren; 3 sisters; 2 brothers. Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 West 5215 South where a visitation will be held Monday at the church, 6:30 -8:30 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. and visitation on Tuesday, 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park. Under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
