Priscilla Mayhew

Priscilla (Sanchez) Mayhew was born November 17, 1939 to Manuel and Reyes (Serna) Sanchez in Sanchez, Arizona. She was one of ten children. She attended the one room school house in Sanchez and graduated from Solomon Jr. High School. Priscilla was the first in her family to graduate from High School, graduating from Safford High School in 1958. During High School she lived in town with her sister Josephine, working at her sisters, El Ranchito Cafe. After High School she worked on the ambulance for Caldwell's and earned her EMT certification through Eastern Arizona College. Priscilla would receive her Medical Assistant training under the Tutelage of Margie Sanchez and Rita Alder. She worked as a Medical Assistant under Dr. Porter, Dr. Hess, Dr. Ed Curtis, and finally retired under her dear friend Dr. Rath. Priscilla married Benjamin C. Mayhew, on March 19, 1960. Together they made their lifelong home in Safford. They had two sons, Benjamin C. Mayhew, Jr. and Eric Mayhew. She and her husband were lifelong members of The Church at Safford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Reyna (Serna) Sanchez, her brothers; Onesimo, Manuel Jr., and Waldo; her sisters, Loida, Josephine, Trinidad, and Fidel. She is survived by her loving husband, Benjamin; her sons, Benjamin Mayhew Jr., and Eric Mayhew (Tammy); grandchildren; Clayton Mayhew, Codie (Mayhew) Porter, Caleigh Mayhew, Vanessa (Mayhew) Waldren. Her great grandchildren; Luke, Khloe, Zoey, Justice, Wenzdai, Kash, and Bruklyn. Her sisters, Aurora, Sylvia, Gloria (niece). Viewing will be from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel, 112 East Main Street, Safford. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at The Church at Safford, Hwy 191, Safford, with Pastor Dale Clonts officiating.Interment will follow in the Safford, Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers family suggest donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Tucson.
