Rachel Mendez

Rachel Marie Mendez, 44, of Bylas, passed away May 5, 2017 in Safford. She was born January 29, 1973 in Shurz, Nevada to Dwight & Evelyn Bennett. Rachel went to the Sherman Indian High School and after graduating from there she spent two years at Central Arizona College in Araviapa. She worked for Tribal Gaming as an inspector and became a supervisor in that field before retiring. She loved being a mother and being involved with her children's educations. She liked to play sports, going fishing and camping. Rachel is survived by her children; Steven, Nick and Chelsea Mendez, her parents Evelyn Hinton Grimes & Wheeler Grimes, Jr. and her siblings Sherie Grimes & Shaun Grimes. A Wake will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 5:00 a.m. with the funeral service starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Wheeler Grimes residence in Bylas.
