Ramona Ferrin, 99, of Pima, entered into rest at her home, surrounded by her family on May 3, 2012. She was born on January 21, 1913 in Glenbar, Arizona to Della and Lehi Larson Jr. Ramona attended school in Safford through the 6th grade when her family moved to Pima. She attended school in Pima through the 10th grade and finished her final two years of high school at the Gila Academy, which is now Eastern Arizona College. On December 28, 1931 she was sealed to Ray Ferrin in the Mesa, Arizona, LDS temple; they were married for 80 years. During her time in Pima, she worked in the school cafeteria preparing and serving meals and eventually became the food service manager. Throughout her life Ramona was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She sang in the choir, and played the piano in primary for many years. Ramona and Ray spent seven years working together with the Native Americans in Bylas. Following their years in Bylas they served a full-time mission for the church in Arkansas. When they returned home from their mission, they were called as ordinance workers in the Mesa Temple. Ramona is preceded in death by her parents and her son Max Ferrin. She is survived by her husband, Ray E. Ferrin; her children, Kay (Donna) Ferrin, Garth (Julie) Ferrin, Raeleen (Reubin) Matthews, Ivan (Clara) Ferrin, David (Laurie) Ferrin, Janet LeBlanc, Brenda (Lynn) Eldredge, and Joy Zink; her siblings, Theo Larson, Bevan (Una Mae) Larson, Della (Solon) Beals, and Talmage (Janet) Larson; 45 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Ramona will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 at the Pima, LDS stake center. The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the stake center.
