Raquel Kelly Cervantez was born in Fierro, New Mexico on Oct. 6, 1931 to Mike & Isabel Cervantez. She grew up & attended school in Morenci, AZ. Raquel married Refugio Cuco Nabor on May 16, 1947 & remained with him until he passed in 2009. Together they made their home & raised their children Ellen, Carol, Ernesto, Sally, Jerry & Harry in Newtown, AZ (a small part of Morenci), where for years they ran the famous Nabors Market. When Phelps Dodge had everyone move out of Newtown, Raquel & Cuco stayed in Plantsite for a short while until Cuco retired & they moved to San Jose, where they both lived & enjoyed their fast growing family until they passed. Raquel was Raquel. She was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great-grandmother & sister, but above all she had open arms & an open door to anyone wanting or needing a place to stay, someone to talk to, or just some comfort. But those of us who knew her well can say that very rarely did you get away without a stern look, the question of Do you know the Lord or a scolding. Raquel passed out prayer books, bibles, Christian movies or music to anyone who would accept them & to all of Her Little Ones with a hug, a kiss & a treat. Raquel was very proud of all the family & was happiest when she could brag on them. Raquel is survived by her children Ellen (Ed), Carol, Sally, Jerry (Rachel) & Harry. Her brothers & sisters, Fermin, Hector & Eloy Cervantez, Delia Rocha, Alice Crawford, Natalia Garcia, Elodia Bell & her stepsister Lugarda Luly Gonzales. Raquel had 26 grandchildren, 85 great grandchildren and 11 great great-grandchildren. Raquel was preceded in death by her husband Cuco, her son Ernesto, her grandson Daniel, her sister Amparo, her brother Mike & her parents, Mike & Isabel.
