Raymond M. Abeyta, 57 of Avondale, formerly of Duncan, entered into rest on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at his home in Avondale, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 11, 1955 in Morenci, to Ray A. Abeyta and Lupe M. Abeyta. He married Debbie Valdez on May 23, 1995. Raymond attended schools in Morenci and then Duncan, graduating from Duncan High School in 1973. He worked for Phelps Dodge Mining Company. His daughter Chi was born in 1976, they then moved to Farmington, NM, and then moved to Phoenix in 1986. He recently moved back to Duncan to work for Jacobs in Morenci. He served his country in the National Guard and was activated during Operation Desert Storm. He loved to play city league softball and loved to camp and fish. He especially loved his dog Bud. He is survived by his wife Debbie Valdez-Abeyta of Avondale; daughter, Chi Abeyta of Avondale; mother, Lupe M. Abeyta of Duncan; sisters, Gloria (Joe) Bejarano of Duncan, Sylvia (Herman) Baca of Duncan; and Diane Herrera of Phoenix; brothers, Jack (Loretta) Abeyta of Morenci and Sammy Martinez of Duncan; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray A. Abeyta, and his sister, Elsie Rosales. Viewing will start at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013, with rosary at 8:30 a.m. and Mass of a Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Duncan. Interment will be in the Duncan Cemetery.
