Raymond L. Wendrich Still Gardening WVC, UT - Raymond Lucas Wendrich, 91, loved by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passed away October 19, 2010 at his home. Born November 17, 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the third of eight children and only son of Fredrick Hermann and Wally Franziska Lucas Wendrich. Married Thelma Dixon July 11, 1940 in Salt Lake City, UT; solemnized November 8, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. Ray served in the US Navy from June 23, 1944 - February 18, 1946. He served as bishop of the Jordan North 7th Ward, as a Stake High Councilman and in many other capacities. He also served on the Planning Commission for West Valley City. Survived by his wife, Thelma; children: Richard Ray (Sharon) Wendrich; Sandra Lee (Dean) Whitworth, West Valley City; Tamara Lynn (Robert) Beauchamp, Taylorsville; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters: Charlotte Stringham Nason and Lucy Lewis. Preceded in death by his parents; 5 sisters; and his loving grandson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2010, 12:00 noon at the Granger West 7th Ward, 4460 West Cortney Dr. (2529 South). Viewings will be held Monday, October 25, 2010, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Tuesday at the church, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
