Rebecca Jane Skinner "Omie", 88, passed away March 22, 2018. Rebecca was born March 11, 1930 in Bylas, Arizona to Leonard Rope and Viola Kozie.
Rebecca was an avid traveler. She traveled throughout Europe, Bermuda, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada, and throughout the United States of America, including Alaska and Hawaii.
As much as she experienced through travelling, Apache food was one thing she loved most. When she would return to the reservation, Rebecca would eat her favorite foods, fry bread, acorn stew, and Indian tamales. Rebecca was able to communicate fully in Apache language with family and friends.
Rebecca is survived by her son; Emerson Ethelbah, her siblings; Tessie Clark, Adam Rope, David Rope, and Leo Rope. She was preceded in death by her husband; George Skinner, her daughter; Clara, her parents; Leonard Rope and Viola Kozie, her brothers; Milton Rope Sr., Stanley Rope, and Andrew Rope, her sisters; Hannah Preston, Bonita Tapia, Matilda Ponder, Sharon Rope, and Lorena Rope.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Lighthouse Assembly of God. Interment will follow at Middle Mesa Cemetery.
