Reed Johnson

Reed Johnson, 63 of Safford passed away with his wife Marie by his side at the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center on May 18, 2011 . He was born on September 8, 1947 in Britton, SD, to Marion W. Johnson and Shirley Traphagen. He married Marie Hinton on June 25, 1988 in Safford. Reed was reared in Britton, SD, graduated from Britton High School. Attended college for a year before joining the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam War on the U.S.S. Long Beach, as a Nuclear Electrician. After honorably serving his country, he went to work in the family business in Maryland. He then settled in Safford. He worked as a carpenter for 20 years in the Gila Valley. In 1992 he went to work as a maintenance Supervisor for the Thatcher School District. He is survived my his wife Marie of Safford; daughter, Nicole (Thomas) Dupont of Safford; grandson, Davin Dupont of Safford; Mother-in-law, Marrianne Rowley of Safford; sister, Lynne (Doug) Haugstad of South Dakota; brother, Lonnie (Leone) Johnson of Minnesota. A celebration of Reed's life will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Family suggests donations be made to the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center auxillary.
