Reede Upshaw, 71, of Bylas, passed away November 7, 2016 in Tucson, AZ. He was born December 21, 1944 in Bylas to Talbot & Irene Upshaw, Sr.
He was a cowboy, artist and writer. He was the President and a member of the Cattle Association, President of the Mt. Turnbull Committee, Rodeo Chairman, a member of the Mt. Turnbull Commission, STEPP Coalition and received many awards as the Mt. Turnbull Indian Rodeo Chairman. He was also on the Cattle Association All Board of Directors and was involved in many community activities.
His hobbies and interests were oil painting, writing, fishing, hunting, reading western novels and photography. He loved it when he became a grandpa to his first grandson, Chris Titla.
Reede is survived by his wife, Viola Upshaw, whom he married on February 26, 1962 is Safford, AZ. He is also survived by his children; Karen J. Upshaw, Sherry I. Upshaw, Leola J. Upshaw, Velva A. Upshaw, great-grandson Terry Jimenez and siblings; Abner Upshaw, Sr., Mark Upshaw and Asa Ethelbah, 22 grandchildren & 37 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Irene & Talbot Upshaw, Sr., son Kevin R. Upshaw, Sr., daughter Phyllis J. Upshaw-Phillips, granddaughter Tamara Titla, brothers Lawrence Upshaw, Sr., and Talbot Upshaw, Jr. and sisters Cornelia Tortice and Emily Upshaw.
A Wake for Reede will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 beginning at 5:00 a.m. at the Upshaw residence in Bylas followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church with interment in the Middle Mesa Cemetery.
