Richard C. Fast 1921 ~ 2009 Richard Calhoun Fast, 88, passed away November 3, 2009 in West Valley City, UT. Born March 27, 1921 in Milwaukee, WI, son of Emmett Emerson and Leora Edith Young Fast. Married Emily Lee Quillin, who introduced him to the church; later divorced. Married Betty Ann Elkins May 30, 1954 in Yuma, AZ; solemnized April 16, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. He graduated from Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, MD, served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII and in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Attended the University of Utah. Was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including a mission, with his wife, to the Sydney Australian mission, 1989-91. He retired from the VA Hospital as an Administrative Assistant. Survived by wife, Betty Ann; children: Richard B. (Sherry), Eric B. (Beth), Carol A. (Jerry) Nelson, Jewel (Stan) Martin, Brian (Linda), Marilyn (Thom) Richards; daughter-in-law, Terri, Christian, and Deborah (Jeff) Finch; 9 children fostered through the Indian Placement Program; 51 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Gene; son, Stevan; 2 grandchildren: Amber and Jacob. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at the Kearns Stake Center, 4260 W. 5215 S. Viewings will be held Friday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
