Richard "Rick" Scott Yearian, 58, of Safford, lost a 5-year battle with cancer on July 3, 2018 at home with his family at his side. He was born April 12, 1960 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Betty Lou & Don Richard Yearian. In 1970, Rick's mom and step-dad moved to Safford where he spent the rest of his life.
Rick received his GED in 1990 and went on to attend college for a year and a half becoming self-employed in the landscape business. He really enjoyed working on golf courses. He also loved spending time with family and friends and was a jokester who loved to pull pranks on everyone. He was a true friend who would drop everything to help a friend in need.
Rick loved to fly helicopters and work on vehicles. In February of 2002, he married Patricia Ann "Patty" McKennon, the love of his life and soulmate and with that came 4 step-children; Steven, Tony, Amber & Anna.
Rick is survived by his loving wife Patty, step-children Steven (Griea) Nelson, Tony Nelson, Amber (Chad) Bailey and Anna Hartman, his sister Lori, nephew Shaun (Rose) Stevens, 20 Grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren, 3 cousins, 1 Aunt, several longtime friends and his pets LucyLou and Tinx Bug.
He was preceded in death by his mother Betty, Stepfather Francis Deck, his father Don Yearian, his Step-brother Scott Deck, his Uncle Gus Wyckoff, and 2 Daughter-in-laws Shannon Nelson and Andrea Anderson.
A Celebration of life was held at Rick's home on July 5, 2018. His wishes were to donate his body for research, science and education.
