Rick Wynn Franks, 49 of South Jordan, Utah passed away on Saturday, April 25 of Huntington's Disease. He was born in Powell, Wyoming to Richard L. and Beverly Hatcher Franks in 1960. The family left Powell when he was 3 years old and moved to Glenns Ferry, Idaho. After a time and several moves later, the family settled in Challis, Idaho where his father accepted a job in mining. At that time he was in the 3rd grade. Most of his growing up years, he loved going fishing, hunting, football and teasing his 3 sisters. Rick attended school in Challis and graduated in 1978. When he was in High School he had numerous jobs saving for a car until he had enough funds to buy one. He was so proud. After college at I.S.U. in Pocatello, Idaho, he started working in the mining industry which he enjoyed for many years. Rick met and married Diane Miller in 1983 and they produced 2 children, Kelly Marie and Daniel Roy. Fun times were had by learning the why's and what not's of fatherhood. He and Diane later divorced. In 1992 he met and married Monica Smith, they had a son, Brandon Rick. He enjoyed taking the children fishing, teaching them to ride the 4-wheeler, going on skiing trips where the children learned to ski and was still learning to be a great Dad. He loved sports and an avid Denver Bronco fan. Rick was Danny, Kelly and Brandons # 1 fan in the sports they participated. When Brandon was 3 years old, the family moved to South Jordan, Utah where Rick and Monica both had accepted positions at Kennecott Utah Copper. Some hobbies of Rick's included; restoring a Pontiac GTO car, collecting guns, sports, hunting and fishing. His passion for fishing was on the Salmon River in Challis and Shoup, Idaho. Rick is survived by his wife, Monica; 2 sons: Dan [Allison], of Saratoga Springs, Utah, Brandon of South Jordan, Utah, and daughter, Kelly and granddaughter Shaylyn of Bismarck, N. Dakota. His mother, Beverly Ensley [Bill] of Marsing, Idaho, three sisters: Lonell Alexander [Tom] of Meridian, Idaho, Tami Bishop [Jeff] of Redmond, Oregon, and Renae Jaques of Nampa, Idaho and many nieces, nephews, cousins and his uncle Ray [Paula] of Casa Grande, Arizona and Aunt Cloris Franks of Powell, Wyoming.
