Robert Bruse

February 4, 1924 — November 3, 2009

Robert Stanley Bruse Boomps Bob Bruse died peacefully November 3, 2009, at the age of 85, of a broken heart, six weeks after the death of his Joanie of 63 years. Bob was born February 4, 1924 in Salt Lake City, UT to Carl and Ethyl Thompson Bruse, the middle of three boys. He graduated from Granite High School and attended the U of U. After high school, he joined the Navy during WW II and served in the Marshall Islands as Boatswains Mate 2nd Class. He received many commendations including the Purple Heart after being wounded. When he returned home, he married his Joan Griffin on July 13, 1946; September 13, 1952 they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They have two children, Jodie and Rob. Dad held many positions in the LDS Church. His favorite was home teaching and working in the Jordan River Temple with mom for many years. Bob retired from Kennecott Copper in 1983 as a drill and blast foreman. In 1985 Dad won the West Valley Chamber of Commerce Most Beautiful Yard award. Dad and mom also received Volunteers of the Year in 1993. Dad and moms love was admired by anyone who met them. . . their love was one of a kind. His family was everything. Survived by Jodie (Earl) Meyer, Stansbury Park; Rob (Debbie), Logandale, Nevada; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, brothers, Ben and Gale and his bride, Joanie, now together Always for eternity. Special thanks to Harmony Hospice, Marilyn, Denise, Tom, Bobbi Jo, Karen, Crystal and Sherry for their love towards dad, the Millpond Ward for the last four years of concern, help, and love to both dad and mom. Funeral services will be Monday, November 9, 2009, 1:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where viewings will be held Sunday, 6-8 p.m. and Monday, 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Burial will follow at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, Bluffdale, Utah.
