Robert Colvin

Robert Bob J. Colvin, 82, passed away June 9, 2011 at his home in Eden surrounded by his family. Bob lived and farmed in Eden his entire life. With the help of family and friends he formed the Eden Water Company and improved the Eden Cemetery. He will always be remembered for his passion for farming, having fun with friends, and service to others. He has given countless service to the Gila valley. He served on many boards: Arizona Electric Power Cooperative, Gila Valley Irrigation District, Curtis Canal, Dodge Nevada Canal, Arizona Cooperative Extension Service, Pima School Board, Safford Valley Cotton Growers Board, Graham County Electric Board of Directors, Arizona Cotton Council, Eastern Arizona Museum, and founding member for the Glenbar Gin and a board member for the Bush and Shurtz Farmers Table. Bob was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Boy Scout leader, Bishops Clerk, Sunday School President and many other positions in the church. Bob is survived by his wife Verna, children Lindy (Kirk) Lewis, Jay (Brenda) Colvin, Gary (Candy) Colvin, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and brothers Jake (Nina) Colvin and Ray (Bernice) Colvin. He is preceded in death by his parents D. W. (Doc) and Viola Colvin. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, June 15, 2011 by Bishop Vaughn Grant in the Pima LDS Chapel at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the Church. Interment will be in the Eden Cemetery.
